About the Owners
Born and raised in
Holland, Klara’s first word was “paard”, the Dutch word for horse. She
began riding lessons at age nine from a dressage veteran, Jan van der
Sluijs. All school vacations were spent as a working student cleaning
stalls, grooming and tacking horses for lessons, and riding horses while
learning as much as she could. Klara continued as a working student at
dressage and therapeutic riding stables throughout her young life. She
participated for several years coaching disabled children on horseback.
Later, working in different parts of Europe as a tour guide, Klara sought
out the barns and rode English. After moving to the United States in 1993,
she began to study western in conjunction with natural horsemanship
techniques. Klara is an ARIA certified riding instructor in dressage and
recreational riding.

Klara’s husband, Bill Gabriel, loved vacationing
summers at his aunt’s house in Cape Cod during his childhood. Spending
innumerable hours in the company of horses at the neighbor’s horse barn,
Bill learned horse behavior, developed riding skills, and most
importantly, learned the complexities of a working barn. Bill is an
established contractor and master plumber, building the barns, customizing
stalls, installing watering systems, lighting, and designing indoor and
outdoor arenas for Wilson Brook Farm. Visiting Holland with Klara, Bill
fell in love with the Friesian horse and, in August of 2006, imported a
Friesian mare, “Antje”, to WilsonBrookFarm.
Antje's foal, Zefiro van de Wilsonbrook
was born on June 2nd 2007
