Instructors Klara Vanderwaal
Klara Vanderwaal - owner of
Wilsonbrookfarm and ARIA certified riding instructor Level 1 in dressage
and recreational riding, offers lessons to all ages, welcoming beginners
and advanced riders. Her philosophy is grounded in safe and intelligent
horsemanship, focused on establishing a successful partnership between the
horse and rider. Lessons are flexible and tailored to each student. Klara
firmly believes that each horse and rider team is unique in their needs
and learning styles, requiring a individualized approach. Klara started
riding in the Netherlands at age 9 and worked for lessons from age 15 up
at a barn where she helped out with the disabled riding program for 5
years. She has been teaching riding for many years, and guides the trail
rides at Wilsonbrookfarm. For those riders who would like to get ready
for this trail ride vacation, Klara will be able to get you started! Note:
trail rides will only be possible after a rider has shown to be
comfortable in the ring. She lives on the farm and can be reached at 207

wilsonbrookfarmllc@maine.rr.com Wendy McCann, Barn Manager/Instructor
Wendy McCann started getting involved with horses at the tender age of 10
and she has never looked back. Now, twenty years later, she still loves
the smell of fresh hay in the morning and hearing nickering horses when
she walks into the barn at Wilson Brook Farm. Having more than twenty
years of experience with horses, she knows the fun as well as the hazards
of the equestrian sport. Her love for the horse is evident when she’s
around them and loves to teach others the art of riding. Wendy has mostly
been involved in the Hunter/Jumper show rings, but has also dabbled a bit
in the Dressage ring as well. If you are looking for an instructor who is
patient and specializes in boosting self-confidence and not only teaches
the “hows” but the “whys” and keeps it safe for all, you have found the
right one in Wendy. Please contact her for any questions or to schedule a
lesson at (207) 577-7394. Wendy, also the barn manager, is
ARIA certified in
Hunt Seat and Stable Management, and plans to go for the US Hunter/Jumper
Association (USHJA) exam sometime in 2009.
Wilson Brook Farm has several opportunities available for working students
as well as several summer camp positions: call Klara for information:
